The Make Way For Ducklings Store Makes a Splah
At Little Bird Boston, we’re always excited to work with fun and unique brands and when we were approached by the World’s Only Curious George Store in Harvard Square about the prospect of doing PR for the opening of a new kid-centric destination book store, we jumped at the opportunity! They were planning to open another themed storytime store in Faneuil Hall around the Make Way for Ducklings book, since it’s such an iconic Boston book and the official storybook of Massachusetts. With a pending opening scheduled in fall 2014, we quickly got to work, developing a launch PR plan over a 6-month span through the holiday season.
The PR Plan was driven by their objective to create media buzz and awareness locally around the store to their target demographic of local Boston area families with young children. We also had a secondary focus at the regional and national level to attract prospective tourists coming to the Boston area. The publicity focused on stories around the store launch, unique store theme, tourism, business and seasonal elements. We also worked with local mom/family bloggers, Mom/Parent Groups and relevant newsletters around the area to promote the brand and spread information about the store opening.
Over the course of working together, the Make Way for Ducklings Store was featured in many media outlets throughout the Boston area and New England region, helping to spread the word about the amazing store. Here is a sample of their press:
Boston Chronicle: Waddle to Faneuil Hall Marketplace

The Make Way for Ducklings Store is truly a special place and we really enjoyed helping them launch successfully through PR support! Here’s what they had to say about working with us:
“Holly broadened our thinking on how best to promote our new store’s launch, and brought a level of professional rigor and focus to our PR/Marketing efforts that doesn’t exist in-house. Even when things began to move fast and necessitated quick engagement, Holly was always responsive and offered thoughtful direction.” -Adam Hirsch, Make Way for Ducklings Store Owner
